About This Project

The Cherry Boppers was formed in Santutxu, a working-class neighbourhood of Bilbao, in 2004 with a purely instrumental character, with the aim of spreading jazz funk music and, in general, the ancient dance rhythms with black roots.
Live performances have been a constant during this time in all kinds of events and festivals of different genres (Viñarock, Imagina Funk, Festival de Jazz de Donosti, Buenafuente, etc…) and opening borders with two winter tours in Holland, festivals in France and Germany (Saint Paul Soul Jazz Festival, Theatron Festival, Paradiso Club Amsterdam, etc….).
Shakin’ the Hood “has been recorded at A-Lone Ark Muzik Studio (Cantabria) with Roberto Sánchez at the helm in recording, production and mixing.
Roberto Sánchez and his studio are currently increasingly in demand to record and develop national and international projects of Jamaican and black music in general, becoming a reference for the music of our country.
The album breathes a clear jazz funk air from beginning to end but with a character open to other sounds for a fresh, versatile and direct, communicative album. This way the listener can counter echoes of soul, psychedelic brush strokes, blushing landscapes and touches of acid jazz, all with a rock attitude but above all a lot of funk directed especially to the dance floor.
